Valencia Food Tour – Review (2022) Tips, What To Expect And More

From tasty treats to travel tips, find everything you need to know about booking a Valencia food tour.

I just returned from a wonderful week in Valencia. It was a special trip for personal reasons. It's a place I really wanted to visit and I made a reservation myself. You can read a little more about the decision I made here. It's time to start the journey I want and organize my day the way I want it to.

When looking for things to do in Valencia, I found food to be paramount! I always do a restaurant tour because it seems to be the best way to know the location when I am abroad. Cooking teaches us a lot about destinations and makes us discover our culture and people.

I found many food tours in Valencia (some included making my own paella), but wanted to do a tapas tour with the locals. I was traveling alone, so lunch was fun.

Valencia Cuisine Tour Group.
I booked a Valencia tapas tour through Get Your Guide (a company I trusted and used before!) and met our guide Gabriel outside the Valencia Cathedral just before 7pm. We have a mother from the Netherlands, two adult daughters and a family of four from England. Otto was a great song. Close enough to know my fellow travelers, but big enough to enjoy.

Gabriel explained that over the next two hours, he would visit three restaurants offering different types of tapas. I tried about 8 dishes with alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages.

He was a great host. He was charismatic, cheeky and full of stories. It was nice to be able to walk around the bar and talk a little more about her life in Valencia, her favorite places and culture. He is open and honest, covering topics like Spain, tourism in Valencia and why Spaniards eat all night long! We also talked about our experiences in San Sebastian, Madrid and Barcelona and where the best Spanish food came from.
