Patience is not a talent. Patience is a skill that must be trained. Unfortunately, we often misunderstand and think that patience is a person’s innate nature.
So when we can’t be patient, we think that’s our nature and can’t be changed. Yet if we want, we can train ourselves to be more patient in dealing with unwanted, sad or disappointing conditions.
There are many things why people usually lose their temper, including:
- Too much burden in life
- Do not know their knowledge in dealing with these unpleasant things
5 Ways To Be Patient
There are many benefits of being patient. One of them is patience will make the heart more calm and positive in life.
Although it is not easy, there is no harm in us continuing to practice so that we always become a patient person.
If you are an impatient person, let’s try to do the following ways to practice your patience.
1. Give thanks
Instead of complaining about life’s trials, it’s better to count the blessings of God that have been given in life.
The air can still be inhaled, beautiful scenery that can still be enjoyed, the voices of children who can still be heard, the attention of couples who can still be felt. God’s favor is not comparable to the trials God gives.
To practice being thankful we can write at least 10 favors that we feel on that day, no matter how small. Always grateful for all His destiny and determination will make the heart calmer.
2. Increase Worship
An impatient heart is directly proportional to the worship performed. If patience begins to fade, check again how our worship to God.
Focus on improving worship. If you need to make a checklist of worship that we do to maintain consistency in carrying out it.
3. Don’t Be Easily Provoked
Don’t react immediately when you get bad news, sad news or disappointing news. Take a deep breath. Then give 3 minutes to give the right reaction.
When we react immediately, usually negative emotions come out. But if we give a break of 3 minutes, we will be able to arrange our hearts first so that we can be far more patient and calm in dealing with it.
4. Learn A Lot
Lack of patience can be due to less knowledge. However, patience includes life skills. Therefore, attend the training that can increase knowledge so that we are equipped to face life more complete and focused, not easily swayed by lust.
If we feel impatient in parenting, we can learn about parenting. If we feel impatient in managing our emotions, we can learn about psychology and how to handle an inner child.
5. Expand Good Friends
A good friend does not only invite things that are fun in the world, and good friends will also always remind us of kindness and patience.
The more good friends we have, the more will remind us when we lose our temper. Expand our network of friends, join the many communities that bring benefits.
What do you think of the five ways above?
Don’t forget to put it into practice. If you find it difficult to practice, say “I can” and immediately practice every day. Continue sounding ourselves; “I’m patient” to give positive affirmations to myself. Patience is not something passive.
Patience does not mean we are silent without doing anything. Stop complaining and focus on the good things.
Patience is an attempt to control actions and words. Patience is indeed not easy, even tiring, but it will be beautiful in the end. Good luck!
